How To Treat A Skin Tag In Lower Lip Caused Due To Accidental Biting Of Lip?

I bit my lower lip inside during my sleep - I thought it would heal back together, but over the last 3 weeks instead it healed forming what looks like a skin tag but in my mouth. It is getting in the way with eating and feels like it gets in the way of me talking too - how do I remove it?

Hi..
Can understand your concern..

As per your complain due to accidental biting of lip there can be trauma to the soft tissues and due to injury there can be formation of "Skin Tags" which is formed due to over growth or proliferation of cells of the lip mucosa and lead to formation of a small growth..

Due to trauma there can also be a proliferation of the fibrous tissue present beneath the mucosa and lead to formation of a small growth known as "FIBROMA".

In case if it is like a lump it can be due to injury to the minor salivary glands or their ducts leading to formation of a small lump called MUCOCELE due to spillage and accumulation of saliva or mucus into the soft tissues..

In all the three conditions removal can be done..

Many a times a mucocele regress and heals on its own by getting ruptured and spilling its contents into the mouth.

I would suggest you to consult an oral surgeon and get evaluated and removal can be done surgically under local anaesthesia..

Hope your query is solved..

Thanks and regards.
