How To Treat A Scab Leading To Discolouration On Calf Caused Due To Injury?

I was riding a bicycle and hit my calf on the pedal and hurt my skin. It was bleeding and so I removed the loose skin and washed the wound with povidone-iodine. A scab developed later and now that the scab is removed, I see a kind of purplish, maroonish skin in the areas where I got hurt. Any help?

Hello thanks for writing in.
The purplish maroonish areas are most likely due to trauma induced bleeding under the skin, in the subcutaneous tissues.
They will change color over time, and eventually get absorbed and go away.
As long as there is no sign of pus formation, swelling, or pain in the limb, (all of which can signal an infection) I would not worry.
You can apply a cold compress/icepack over the area.
Hope this is helpful.
Take care.
