How To Stop Wisdom Tooth From Cutting Into The Cheek?

I have a wisdom tooth that has already come through and has been there for a while. However it keeps cutting into my cheek and as a result makes it painful for me to eat and to talk. I spoke to my dentist about this and he said that there was nothing wrong with my wisdom tooth and this would happen anyway.

Please can you give some advice if there is anything I can take that will numb the pain. Thanks

Thanks for writing to us..

As per your complain wisdom tooth cuts the cheek mucosa in case if it is erupted in improper alignment and is aligned more towards the cheek..

Secondly sharp and pointed cusps of tooth can also cause traumatic injury to the cheek..
I would therefore, suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and he can do a proper examination so that the exact cause can be ruled out..

In case if it is due to sharp cusps of the wisdom tooth, then Coronoplasty can be done, that is smoothening and rounding off the cusps of the wisdom tooth..
In case if it is due to abnormal alignment of the tooth then extraction of the tooth is the only permanent solution..
In case if due to biting of the cheek there is pain and ulceration, then you can apply numbing gel containing Lignocaine over it to relieve pain..
