How To Stop Urge To Urinate Frequently?

I am a 53 year old endurance athlete and business owner. I recently began a rigorous training program involving swimming and run training. I work very hard t stay hydrated and like to put smaller amounts of caffeine drops like Mio in my water bottle. My bladder only feels empty after immediately urinating and often 10 minutes later I feel like I need to pee again. Hard to train etc when you feel like you need to pee all the time. Thank you for your help.

Dr. Hanif warmly welcomes you!

Thanks for consulting at my virtual clinic HCM. I have carefully worked through your case, and can well realize your health worries. Being your physician, I want to assure, I will take care all of your medical concerns.

Urge incontinence is very common a problem worldwide, but fortunately it is curable with medications.

Evaluation and workup is the key to diagnosis:-
And I usually start with history, examination and urine complete analysis through a laboratory testing.
Further testing is needed which is a list of battery of test and some of them selected on the basis of pre-evaluation, are needed to run on every patient. In my clinical experience I usually need the following important diagnostics to run on almost every patient. I request you to consult your treating physician and get an insight on these diagnostics and it will aid in resolve the issue after proper diagnosis.

**Volume of urine leftover just after the urination.
**Cough stress test
**Bladder capacity (functional).

Medication Guide:-
If I was your treating physician and diagnosis was confirmed, I would have prescribed you with Tolterodine and of course a follow up after 2 weeks.

Caution:-
The possibility of urinary tract infection, diabetes mellitus and any kind of blockage to the urinary system anywhere along the pathway is necessary before getting started with the treatment.
