General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Bruises usually disappear after 2-3 weeks of injury. During this process, the bruise changes its color from bluish or dark purple color due to the collection of blood at the site of injury by cut-down of blood vessels. I advise you to:
- Apply ice on and off (10 mins ) for the first 24 to 48 hour
- Arnica cream or gel or aloe vera gel can be applied
- Take Vitamin C supplements and turmeric can also be applied

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Yogapriya Vasudevan, General & Family Physician
