Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have started taking swimming classes for past 4 days and still 26 days left along with my friend. The problem is my skin is tanned severely over Face, neck and other exposed areas. I am really depressed because I was quite fair before swimming and now it looks like I am different person. Is this tan permanent. Can t it be reversed and if yes how long will it take?
As per your query you have tanning of skin after swimming and you want to reverse that. Well its not permanent. It occurs because of excessive absorption of UV rays of sun.
I would suggest you to apply sunscreen that is ideal for use in swimmers should be broad spectrum because it will give protection against UV A and UV B. A sunscreen with minimum spf 30 or preferably 50+ is considered broad spectrum.
Use a glycolic acid based cream available in 12% form as it contains alpha hydroxy acids which defoliates tanned skin.
Apply tea tree oil with the help of cotton.
Use TAN CARE and Metarub as well.
Skin creams rich in azealic acid also lighten skin.
Visit dermatologist once and get it examined properly.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
