How To Reduce Shivering Fits?

I have had 3 shivering fits in less than 24 hours. Each one lasted nearly an hour. I might have an infection, but is there a way to reduce these fits? Drinking water seems to help a little as it makes me sweat. Help! I am 41, woman. I was abroad for 2 days when this first happened.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello
Shivering 3 times in 24 hours may be due to these possibilities , these includes.
1 Mixed malaria , diagnosis can be confirmed by peripheral blood film examination . As you mentioned that there was 3 times shivering within 24 hours means mixed type of malaria.
2 Urinary tract infection causes such type of symptoms so get in urine complete examination with ultrasound of both kidneys.
3 Septicemia is another such cause but in your case this is not possible because in this disease fever don't subsides.
However there are other so many reasons as food poisoning may also produces such type of symptoms .
So consult a physician and get his opinion .
Good luck.
