How To Reduce Headache Behind The Eyes?

My 13 yr old granddaughter has been experiencing a mild to severe headache for the last 24 hrs. The location of the pain is over & back of the right eye. At the worst of the pain, she was very nauseous. Have given her over the counter Ibuprofen. This had not helped. Can you recommend any other treatment? Thank you Rita

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello Rita.
Your granddaughter maybe suffering from either migraine or sinus headache. It is more in favor of migraine headache since it is associated with nausea. Both conditions need prescription medications. Sinus infection needs antibiotics in addition to the pain medications. I suggest you take her to a doctor and get her checked out soon. Hope I answered your query.
Take care. Good day.
