For one to say to be suffering from IBS that is Irritable Bowel Syndrome all the relevant investigations needs to be normal. Hence I would advise you the following: Consult a Gastroenterologist for clinical evaluation, examination and get all the following investigations: Tests of stool for three days. Tests of blood. Ultrasonography of abdomen followed by CT scan of abdomen. Colonoscopy and biopsy. If any investigations show any abnormality you can be specifically treated. If all the investigations are normal then only control of stress and anxiety particularly under the care of a Psychiatrist can help you the best. Also identify the factors, foods and beverages that increase the problems and stop these altogether.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. T Chandrakant, General Surgeon
