Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Head circumference is measured with a non-stretchable tap across the most prominent points on front and back of head- part of forehead about 1 finger breadth above eye brows and occipital protuberance (the bony prominence on back of head).

After 6 months, we expect an increase of 0.5cm per month. For a baby with normal size at birth, we expect 44.5 at 9 months. To decide whether the increase is significant, we have to compare with that at birth, and plot on standard chart. Your doctor will discuss with you.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
