Hi Doctor, I am 27 years old, female with ET (JAK2 positive) and mild Thalessimia I am taking only clopidogrel as a maintenance as I am allergic to aspirin. My doctor said I am low risk and does not require any other medications. My plateletes are now 800 and I want a way to lower it down fast. I have hyroxyurea with me now but I want to know the proper way to administer it I have been prescibed hydrea before but I stopped it after 3 days because I am afraid of the side effects. But now I want to lower down my platelets due to the tiredness i am feeling and no doctor is available to see me at the moment. Please help me how to administer hydera and how long will i be able to see results below are my particulars: Age : 27 Gender: Female Height: 5 2 Weight 54kg Race: Asian What I have tried so far: Hydrea, aspirin, clopidogrel My doctor before told me to take hydrea once a day every morning. will this dosage be sufficient enough? Thank you
Hi, Thanks for asking. Based on your query, my opinion is as follows. 1. 800 is not too high and treatment is not necessary. 2. For immediate reduction, platelet apheresis would be better. 3. Hydroxyurea is known to have few side effects and future risk of blood cancer is also present. 4. Once a day is adequate. Hope other parameters in blood are normal. Avoid for now, if possible. Hope it helps. Any further queries, happy to help again.
