How To Introduce New And Semi Solid Food To 7 Month Old?

I have a 7 month old baby boy and I am concerned about what all semi solid and solid indian food to be introduced. I have already started giving khichri(moong dal and rice), milk with parle-G biscuit, starch and dal. But my baby does not accept khichri and milk biscuit I have to forcefully feed him. In case of formula he drinks only 5 ounce of milk and remaining he leaves. Please suggest me how shall I go about and if I want to introduce a new food to him how shall I do?

Hi, I'am Dr Suresh K Yadav MD (paediatrics), I had gone through your question and understand your concerns,

I think you are giving right food , but do not force baby as it may lead to aversion. Try to feed variety of foods depending upon choice of baby like khichri, Dalits, Suzi , Dal , rice , meshed potato , banana . You have not mentioned weight of your baby so that we can have some idea of growth and requirement of any additional feeding . Some suggestions are

: encourage a cup rather than a bottle
: introduce one food at a time (4-5 days)
: food should be energy dense
: do not give more than 100-150 ml of juice per day .
: no soda
:continue breast feed
:when offering a new food 8- 10 attempts should be made, as baby sometimes takes so much time to respond.

Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions

Take care.

Hi,
Thank you for asking question on health care magic.
You can give fresh fruit juice, boiled and smashed potato, smashed ripe banana, curd with sugar etc., you may try begining with small quantities
normally baby refuge to eat but offer the same food for a week or so.
Introduce one new item at a time and try for one week.
Identify the food the baby likes and continue the same in gradually increasing quantities.
Hope this answer will serve your purpose
Please feel free to ask any more queries if required
Take carec.
