Hello I wanted to ask for some help on my thinking and how i can get my brain to be smart again. I am in the 11th grade right now and I used to be very smart but now when the teacher is in front of the class and teaching us I listen but once she hands out paper with questions on what she just taught us. I never get any of the information into my head anymore

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I take care of adolescents and will be glad to share my suggestions with you. Are you taking any prescribed or over-the-counter- medicines? Do you use any illicit drugs or substances? It is most important that you see a physician for him/her to take a thorough history and perform a complete physical. It will not hurt if you develop a healthy lifestyle:
-Get adequate sleep each night. Adolescents need 9-9 and a half hours each night.
-Daily, vigorous, physical activity for 30-60 minutes a day for 4 or more days per week. Perhaps by joining a youth soccer team.
-Eat a nutritious diet.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
