How to heal the bruised ear drum?

I have tinnitus since 1989, and recently at a home a baby that was sitting to my right, made two high-pitched screams, that the Ear, Nose, & Throat Specialist said bruised my right ear eardrum. The right still feels like it is stuffed. The Specialist has given me prednisone and ear drops, and tells me that it will take time to heal. Can taking Ginkgo Biloba help speed the healing? Or what else do you you recommend?

ENT Specialist 's  Response

There are not many medicines available for speeding the healing , but yes , ginkgo biloba may help and i would like you to take it , please continue the prednisone and ear drops. It generally takes 10-14 days for the healing to occur. please keep the ear dry as water will delay healing.

Take care!

My daughter used a q-tip in her ear about a week ago and I think she bruised her ear drum, it hurt for a day or two and has been good ever since, This morning she belched a bit and the pain came back, although not all the time . It seems to be in waves and then disappears, I think she may have bruised it again with the force of air, Any ideas?

I have a bruised ear drum from a vestibular test; my ENT specialist said that the eardrum was bruised but should be getter in a week. The vestibular test tech shoved the balloon too far into my ear and it became blocked and painful. The blocked feeling has abated but the ear is still painful. What can I do?
