How To Heal Dry, Cracked Skin On The Palms?

my palms are aggressively dry and cracked. it doesn t matter the lotion, gloves or any topical treatment I use. i was diagnosed with dyshidrotic eczema. However i do not have any of the blistering that should accompany it. i get a Kenalog shot once every three months. Its lasts two months before symptoms return. I work with a guy that has the same and gets that shot also. He got very ill about a month ago and got put on a high power antibiotic. We get the shot within weeks of each other and since his symptoms have not yet returned (so 3 months in no sign yet). My thoughts are that possibly he and myself may have some gut bacteria issue and the antibiotics may have killed them and his gut reset with favorable probiotics. I think maybe the good fats and oils are not getting where they need to to because my probiotics are wacked out. however i take probiotics to no avail. Could i benefit from a system toxification? Also my family has thyroid issues both hypo and hyper. Could that be a cause? however i don t have any other symptoms that support thyroid disease. I ve tried exclusionary diets, the whole bit, sleep with lotion and gloves on, nothing works. you could assume i m doing everything i can correctly.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per your case history, you are having palmer keratoderma. My treatment advice is -
1. Don't scratch the lesion as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply an emollient cream like Enmoist cream twice daily on it.
3. Apply a clobetasaol plus salicylic acid cream like clovate-sl twice a day.
4. Other treatment options are oral multivitamins and oral steroid taken only after consulting a dermatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
