How To Get Rid Of Phlegm Build Up Around Uvula Post Tonsillectomy?
I just had a tonsillectomy 3 days ago and I have such a build up of phlegm around my uvula. how safe is it to try to cough it out seeing as I am trying not to open up the cauterized areas of my throat. I have been drinking plenty of water, have a humidifier and tried lemon and honey tea, but it won't loosen enough to let go yet. I guess I'm really trying not to vomit either but it's getting to that point if I can't get rid of it soon. Please assist.
So sorry to hear about your problem and will try my level best to resolve it..
As per your complain excessive phlegm build up around the throat after Tonsillectomy procedure is not an abnormal finding and occurs due to irritation in throat caused due to inflammation post surgical procedure leading to irritation and stimulation of Salivary Glands and it leads to excess phlegm build up. It resolves gradually as the healing progresses.. If you are having an uncomfortable feeling and choking due to phlegm you can consult your treating Surgeon and get evaluated and they can use suction machine and suck Ofc excess of phlegm and it will help in relieving the problem.. You can also do warm saline gargles with other remedies for improvement...
Hope this information helps..
Regards..
