How To Get Rid Of Pain On The Back Of My Heel?

I ve had pain on the back of my heel for 6 months. Some say it s Achilles tendonitis others say bursitis. I ve tried all the eccentric stretches, ice, advil, changed new shoes twice and wear a brace to stretch the calf muscle at night. What s next? The pain is making me sick!

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
You have not mentioned if you are a Diabetic. As retrocalcaneal bursitis is more common in them. Any way I would suggest you to opt for surgical option as you have already tried all medicines and non operative methods.
It is endoscopic surgery and it does not need big incision. All bursa and abnormal bone growth is shaven and then there is only two stitches so you can walk fom day two to day three.
If it is not possible to do it through small incision then other option is to get it done by open approach. If pain is very bad and you are having difficulty in walking then it is good option.
