Hi Doctor I have what feels like mucus at the back of my throat. I do cough it up but sometimes it is difficult and I start to cough, wheeze and feel like I cannot breathe. I panic ( know I shouldn t) , start to sweat, eyes water and just cough and cough- it is like a spasm. At this stage I usually get shooting pains across my shoulders. The spasm lasts a short time and then I am fine- but exhausted!It is frightening for me and frightening for anyone to witness. It usually happens when I talk but it can happen out of the blue for no apparent reason. This is not a regular occurence but it has happened twice in the last 2 days. I am wondering what to do with in my current situation so I don t go into spasm when I have excess mucus. I saw a Dr last week about a sore throat and ears- my lungs are clear.
