How To Get Rid Of Burning Sensation In The Throat?

I accidentally inhaled a small pill that started dissolving before I could swallow it or spit it out. I had a terrible burning sensation in my throat and my neck and cheeks turned quite red. The redness is gone, but I now have a very sore throat. I immediately started having a lot of clear phlegm and began having to blow my nose that continued most of the rest of the day. Now I have a very sore throat.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Noted the history of pill spillover before could be swallowed causing severe burning sensation in throat, cheeks condition and pain improved, clear phlegm and so on.
This is surely a reaction to the contents of the thing that dissolved in mouth and you ingested some part causing the same problem in throat.
I would advise you the following:
Consult your Doctor and let the throat be examined so that the extent of the problem can be done and investigated and treated well.
Take sips of plain water frequently.
Avoid too hot or too cold foods and beverages.
Take a PPI like Omeprazole and anesthetic liquid with an antacid.
Avoid oily and spicy foods.
Further management as per the ENT Surgeon.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, ENT and General Surgeon
