How To Get Rid Of Birth Control Pill Stuck In Throat?

I swallowed my birth control pill a few hours ago, with water as I always do, and immediately afterwards it felt like it was stuck in my throat. My back - between the shoulder blades - is painful as well. I have been drinking a lot of water, even tried warm water, but it isn t going away. I don t know if I m just panicking or if something is seriously wrong.

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

As an ENT specialist, I suspect foreign body (tablet) or scratch due to pill over laryngeal mucosal which also gives a sensation of a foreign body. As it is a tablet, usually it melts, so I recommend, you to wait and watch for at least half a day but if you feel very uncomfortable, please visit ENT specialist nearby as soon as possible. They will do indirect laryngoscopy or video laryngoscopy, to visualize your larynx and if the pill, is stuck it will be removed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Naidu N Lalitha Lavanya
