How To Establish A Consistent Sleep Schedule For Infants?

Hi. my son is now 4 months and 2 weeks old. He does not sleep through the night. He sleeps at 9 pm and wakes at 11 pm. After that he does not sleep till 3 am. After 3 am he sleeps till 11am in morning with 2 to 3 feeds in between. In the day he sleeps 2 time for 2 hours each at 2 pm once and 5 pm once. He is only on breast feeding now. Can you please suggest me as to how do I set his sleep routine in night . Thanks.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

This is normal in early infancy. Till first 4-6 months, infants tend to be alive at night and sleep more during day time. No treatment is indicated or helpful for this. If he is otherwise active, playful and feeding well, nothing to worry.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
