ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi. In my opinion you must visit the hospital ER and have this evaluated. Firstly it is not common for a pill to be swallowed incorrectly into the windpipe and therfore it is necessary to examine the vocal cords for any abnormalities that precipitated this. A video laryngoscopy will be necessary.

It seems like a possibility that the pill scraped through the back of the voice box and entered the esophagus eventually and may be stuck in the food pipe or may have scraped the walls of the food pipe leaving the sensation of something being stuck. If the pill was indeed stuck in your wind pipe then you would have uncontrolled violent coughing that wouldn't have subsided and due to the secretions produced by the lungs in response to the foreign body you would have had symptoms of breathlessness and tachycardia.

In any case since this is a pill it would eventually dissolve in secretions but may take 2-4 hours to do so or even longer and if it is in the lungs it can trigger an infection or collapse of a lobe.

I would recommend that you have this evaluated at the earliest to rule out all these possibilities. If the pill is in the wind pipe a bronchoscopy will be necessary. An X Ray will show opacification due to foreign body reaction and will confirm the presence of a foreign body in the lung. If the X ray is normal and you are breathing fine then a video laryngoscopy or an esophagoscopy may be necessary.

I would not wait on this. Have this evaluated.
Do let me know how this turns out and if you need any further assistance.
