How To Differentiate The Symptoms Between Vaginosis And Yeast Infection?

Hi!I have been getting yeast infections or something else for the past three months almost every 2 weeks. I went and got tested for EVERYTHING and my yeast count came back low and I was STD free. My discharge is white and curdled like it is when you have a yeast infection, but then also at times it is frothy and yellow which I know is a sign of Vaginosis which I was also tested for and came back negative. My diet has been primarily good and I ve been with the same partner and the same BC for the past year now and it just started happening! Please help and let me know if there are steps to take to help end this crazy painful cycle.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my surgical experience:
@ Vaginosis do present as multiple tiny eruptions over vagina surface area with varying itchiness and discharge (usually thin, watery or yellow purulent depending upon the intensity of bug burden)
@ Yeast infection is most likely secondary to lowering of protective vaginal flora and low immunity; presents as thick, curd, sticky white discharge, variable itching, associated burning micturition at times and urinary pH alteration.
Though, many times bacterial culture turns out to be negative, specific slides as KOH wet preparation or budding yest of candida can be of immense importance to diagnose perfectly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
