Hi, I have a small round bump below my rib cage on both my right and left side. It seems movable when I rub it side to side, and the one on the right side of my body hurts a little when I apply some pressure. I can feel them best when lying down on my back, and they are harder to find when my stomach muscles are tensed (if I lift my legs up). Are these bumps normal structures on the body?
Thanks for your question on HCM. No, these bumps (swelling) are not normal structures of body. By description and history, I think they are benign soft tissue swellings. The following characteristics suggest benign nature of swellings. 1. Small size. 2. Non tender. 3. Not fixed to underlying structures like ribs. 4. Not causing any symptoms. So possibility of benign swelling is more. But better to get done ultrasound examination and biopsy. Mostly they are either lipoma or fibromas.
