General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
i [ill is an emergency contraceptive pill that needs to be taken within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse.
What your girlfriend has taken within 2 hours is properly done.
After taking pills, it protects pregnancy by causing withdrawal bleeding within 3 weeks from the day of taking the pill.
Protection of emergency contraceptive pills is around 90% and there are chances of 10% failure.
Since her pregnancy test has come positive, it is better to consult Gynecologist for proper evaluation and management.
Hope the information provided would be useful.
ALl the best.
