Hi, I m 33 weeks pregnant and unfortunately I missed to take my 100mcg thyroid medicine today because of our house relocation, can I take the medicine at any time during today as I normally take in the morning before breakfast. If not can I take 2 tablets tomorrow (i.e., 200mcg tomorrow). Any replies are appreciated. Thanks and Regards, Sofi.
Hi, Welcome to HCM. I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
If you miss a tablet there are 2 options
1. Take twice the dose next day - together in morning empty stomach 2. Take the tablet same day 4 hours after a meal and 1 hour before next meal.
Since the half life (duration in which the drug stay in blood) of thyroxine is high, missing a single tablet wont affect you.
Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help With warm regards, Dr Ajish TP (MD,DM) Consultant Endocrinologist.
