How Safe Is Taking Xanax For Fluttering And Skipping Of Heart?

I started having fluttering and the sensation of my heart skipping a beat every minute or two. Seems to happen about the same time every evening. I take one-half of a xanax tablet and it usually stops in 20 min. or so. I work as a firefighter and cant go back to work having this happen everyday. What should I expect is happening.

Hi welcome to HCM.
Palpitations result from disturbances in the conduction impulses in the heart. They cause sensation of pounding and can be quite trouble some.I advice you to have a 24 hour holter EKG monitoring. This can quantify the missed beats accurately.Drugs like amiodarone will help to control the symptoms.Radiofrequency ablation techniques can offer permanent cure.Consult your cardiologist for further queries.
Thank you
