How Safe Is Taking Arithromycin And Sinarest For Wheezing And Excess Phlegm?

Sir, very recently I had a problem with breathing which occurs mostly at night and alot of phlegm is generated which leads to wheezing. I was prescribed Arithromycin 500mg - 1 /day and Sinarest 2/day for 5 days. It was under control for 5 days but now it has re surfaced again and I could not sleep properly yesterday. Should I continue with the same medicines?

Hello,

Thank you for asking at HCM.

I went through your history and would like to make suggestions for you as follows:

1. I would like to know more about you like your age, your nose symptoms, throat symptoms, chest symptoms, whether repeated episodes, how often, any other medical conditions, any other medicine use, etc.

However, at present, from your given history, I would suggest you as follows:

2. Azithromycin are antibiotics and hence should not be self medicated. As you have taken duration as per your doctor's suggestion, please do not repeat the antibiotic again.

3. Sinarest will help you in some of symptoms, but less for wheezing. I usually prescribe my such patients salbutamol/levosalbutamol in addition to a Sinarest or similar drug.

4. Please avoid exposure to dusts, smokes and air pollution as much as possible.

5. Please have adequate fluids during day to avoid dehydration.

Hope above suggestions will be helpful to you.

Should you have any further query, please feel free to ask at HCM.

Wish you the best of the health ahead.

Thank you & Regards.
