How Much Vitamin D Supplement Can Be Taken In A Day?

lately I have heard you can take to much vitamin D what is the correct dosage for a 65 year old. I was taking a 1000 IU pill and also the Centrum silver multivitamin which contains 1000 IU. I have stopped taking both for now until I find out more information regarding this concern, also I do get a fair amount of daily sunshine.
