How Much Quantity Of Ibuprofen Is Recommended For Jaw Pain After Wisdom Tooth Removal?

My daughter had all 4 wisdom teeth pulled this past Mon. morning. 8-3-15 Only one side of the upper jaw is very painful . She is already has taken 600 milligrams of ibuprofen (4 doses) today. Her last dose was 7 PM this evening. My question is can she take 1 800 mg of ibuprofen @12:00 pm in a couple of hours?? We have (2)800 Mg of ibuprofen that my sister just gave us. This should last for 6 hours. I am concerned that she will take too much ibuprofen. Any recommendations?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain since its almost 3 weeks that she has got her wisdom teeth removed and if still she has pain there is a chance that she has Dry Socket in which the blood clot that is responsible for healing to take place is dislodged leading to inflamed and unhealed socket leading to severe pain..
You said immediately consult your dentist and get her evaluated..

The other thing is that Ibuprofen can be taken every 6 hourly and maximum dose is 800 mg per dose and 3200 mg per day in 4 divided doses..
She can take 800 mg at around 1pm as it will be 6 hours but you should take care that she will be at the maximum dosage by taking it..

In place of it she can take Tramadol 50 mg which relive moderate to severe pain..

But the best way to get permanent relief is by consulting a dentist and getting proper diagnosis done so that the cause can be treated..

In case of Dry Socket dentist can put a Zinc oxide eugenol dressing in the extraction socket which has to be changed every alternate day and advise you antibiotics and painkillers for complete relief..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
