How Much Lysine Is Safe To Take?

Ok thanks, is there concern taking l lysine 500 mph/day everyday? And can you recommend the best source of potassium supplement , calcium and vitamin c capsules are the best not sure what form to get even though food is the best source but not always convenient. Thank you! Rita

Lysine is an amino acid, which is building block of protein. It is mainly used for preventing and treating cold sores (caused by the virus called herpes simplex labialis). It can be taken by mouth or applied directly to the skin for this use.
Lysine is known to improve athletic performance.

Dosage for cold sores (herpes simplex labialis) is: 1000 mg daily for 12 months and 1000 mg three times daily for 6 months.
Hence, Lysine dosage varies from 1 to 3 g daily.

Best dietary supplement for potassium is by eating banans and drinking tender coconut. Natural source of calcium is consuming adequate quantities of milk and Vitamin C is consuming citrus fruits like orange, musambi and lemon.

You can supplement additional potassium by taking Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS). Calcium and Vitamin C can be additionally supplemented in the form of tablets.
