Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Epidural injections for spinal stenosis are used for symptoms and don't treat the condition itself. They can be used up to three times. It is true that surgery may have some risks, but in most of cases ( around 90%) there are good results. Surgical techniques vary from minimally invasive ones ( discectomy, laminectomy ) to multilevel decompression and stabilization, it depends on the degree and the spreading of the stenosis. Discuss with a Neurosurgeon about these issues.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
