How Long Does The Pain Due To Pulled Muscle In Abdomen Last?

Hi, My husband has pulled a muscle in his stomach near the ribs. He can move and he is working . the pain is getting better but we were wondering how long this pain will last and if their is a good over the counter medication he can take. Right now we are using Bengay on the area and it seems to help. \

Hello dear user! Welcome to HCM!

Pain caused from Muscular strains vary from 2 days to a couple of weeks. it depends from the level of lesion and the time that muscle needs to be regenerated.

However if the strain is not so serious it may last 3 days to a week. There are different OTC drugs used for this purpose. My favorite is Ketoprofen gel or foam 5%. It gives you fast relief.

Take care and I hope my answer was helpful!
Best regards!
Dr Eriol.
