How Long Does It Take To Reduce Weight After Stopping Steroid And Cortisone?

Hi. I had cancer. Stopped treatment 5 months ago. Steroid and cortisone was part of the treatment. I gained 20 kg. I have tried to loose it my exercise and healthy eating. I m not loosing any weight. How long will it take before I start loosing weight.

You have gained 20 kg of excess weight.

Ideally losing 1kg of fat takes about 1 month if you have a balanced diet.

You can do brisk walking for 30 minutes then increase to 1 hour per day (empty stomach).

You need to eliminate fried foods, food items with high fat content like cheese, butter, soft drinks, drinks with high sugar content, refined carbohydrates like biscuits, bread and cakes.

Your diet should have about 1600-2000 kcal/day. Include whole grains, green vegetables, fresh and seasonal fruits in your diet.

If you do sensibly dieting and exercise regularly it should take about 18 months. But by this this way you will loose the fat and not muscle mass. You will not be prone to any infection if you have a balanced diet and avoid crash dieting regimen.
