How Long Does It Take To Recover Post Pilonidal Cyst Removal?

Hi I had a pilondial cyst removed about 2 months ago the doctor decided to leave it open and let it heal from the bottom up. It was fairly large I had a wound vac on it for some time but that s gone and my wound isn t really deep it s healed quite a bit not much more to go it drains sometimes into the gauze that s on it but nothing crazy. Am I able to go into lakes or things like that? I hate just waiting for it to heal I m a very active person.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Two to three months is the usual time for healing. You can do all the routine activities including swimming. You can apply collagen powder for faster granulation and healing.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
