How Long Does It Take To Be Normal Post Repair Of Tears In Eye?

I had detached retina and two small tears repaired in my right eye two weeks ago. My doctor said I could go back to work next week, but still not seeing the best. After reading other peoples reports, most of them were off work longer. I don t want to tear it again. How soon can I resume full work load? I had a gas bubble inserted.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The recovery time after repairing tears in the eye and a detached retina can vary depending on the extent of the damage and the type of surgery performed. In general, it can take several weeks to several months for vision to fully stabilize after the surgery.

It's important to follow your doctor's instructions carefully and avoid any activities that could put a strain on your eyes or increase the risk of re-injury. Your doctor may recommend avoiding heavy lifting, strenuous exercise, or activities that require bending forward or putting your head down.

You should also continue to attend all scheduled follow-up appointments with your eye doctor to monitor your progress and ensure that your eye is healing properly. Your doctor will be able to advise you on when it's safe to resume your normal activities, including your workload.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician

Hello,

It takes 2-4 weeks for recovery and assumption of routine duties. As its already 2weeks, you can wait another 2 weeks to resume your work load.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
