How Long Does It Take For Dissolvable Stitches To Dissolve?

Dear Dr. I am 69 years old and having treated for glaucoma for at least ten years with medication and laser surgeries without too much success. 10 days ago I had surgery for glaucoma and cataract at the Cleveland Clinic. My eye still feels strachy and at times painful. Can you tell me how long does the disolvable stiches disolve so that the discomfort will stop. Thanks

Well long term medication and surgeries on your eye could have left ocular surface irregularities or any retained non-absorbable sutures or drainage implants cause stratchy and painful sensation.

Long term medication drops which if contain certain preservatives cause dry eye problem.

If very painful, it could be uncontrolled pressure in eye.

Consult your ophthalmologist for evaluation and management.
