General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The fracture healing takes at least 6 week for complete healing as per my opinion. The bruise and swelling might be due to inflammation and it usually subside in one or two week. But it doesn't suggest that healing is complete. Wait for at least six and than allow him to play sports.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
