How Long Do Cancer Cells Remain Active In The Body?

I had. Basal cell cRcinma removed from my face it was on th jaw line 6mm. I have been told by my cousin her mother had one in her eyebrow and the dr told her it is an indication you have cancer elsewhere in your body. She died from breast cancer several years later. Is this true if you have a skin cancer there is cancer somewhere in your body?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It depends on tumor that it can spread to other area or not. Basal cell carcinoma usually not metastasized and it is locally destructive neoplasm.

Usually, basal cell carcinoma not metastasized. If you want to rule out metastasis for any tumor, then CT scan or PET scan is useful. Consult an Onco-surgeon for examination.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami
