How is Prolia drug administered?

Why would doctors prescribe a med, such as Prolia, when they know the adverse side effects of the drug.? Tell me also, what is the status of Fosomax today? Is it off the market, or has it shown up in a generic form at a much reduced rate. What is the charge for Prolia and how is it administered???
