How Does One Manage Knee Pain While Treating Sciatica?

I ve been having pain in my right knee for about 3 months, with aching from knee all the way into my foot. Th foot pain used to get better when elevated, but not anymore. I ve had angioplasty, which did nothing for the pain. Am now being treated Sciatica, but that isn t providing any relief either. What else could this be?

Hello,

As what I understand by the history is you have pain in the knee as well sciatica, is that true? Now for knee pain, you should start slow and gradual strengthening exercise.

like pressing the knee down and lifting the leg up. We need to consider that you have heart complications too.

So anything we try as an exercise we need to keep monitoring the pulse and blood pressure to avoid any added complications.

Now coming to sciatica. first choice will be rest along with physical therapy like TENS therapy, therapeutic ultrasound therapy and mobilization of the lumbar vertebrae.

Post which some exercise should begin but we need to go slow as we have your cardiac issue to consider.

Use hot water fermentation for lower back and knee as well. this should help improve the vascular supply and reduce the muscle spasm. Avoid using icing due to a cardiac issue.

Please consider all exercise to go slow as the cardiac issue is much to be noticed in all ways.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
