How Can Yeast Infection Be Treated?

I was diagnosed with a yeast infection about a month ago. I was given a pill to take which cleared my symptoms and the infection. I'm now having the symptoms again. Would it be okay to self treat with over the counter meds and remedies or do I need to try and see a doctor again?

Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You have developed recurrent symptoms of yeast infection. I would suggest you to consult the gynecologist and undergo vaginal examination, vaginal swab test, KOH mount, vaginal microscopy to confirm the cause.

Following prescribed treatment will help you:

1. Tablet fluconazol. eVaginal suppository of clingen and alctobacillus.

2. Apply vagisil cream. Wear pure cotton loose inner and change it after work out.

3. Keep the area clean and dry.

4. Wash vagina with warm salted water 2 to 3 times per day.

5. Eat healthy diet with vitamin and antioxidant supplements to improve immunity.

6. Drink plenty of water for better circulation.

7. Avoid excessive salty/sweet food, chemical soap and cosmetics chemical.

Treatment of partner is also advisable.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sagar
