Hello,

Thanks for your query on HCM

"As"per your clinical history is concerned please follow like this -

1)Drink plenty of fluids[ORS]to prevent dehydration, you can prepare this fluid at home [Take 1 liter of boiling water, add 6 tea spoon full sugar and mix 1/2 teaspoonful salt]mix it and drink after every vomiting or bowel movements.

2)Discuss with your treating Doctor about [omeprazole + domperidone] for nausea and vomiting.

3) Do take following dieting modifications like this -

a)Try to avoid certain food items Meals that are rich in fats, oil and spice, you can take simple diet consisting of easy to digest foods and fresh fruit and vegetables.

b)Once you start feeling better, you can start introducing foods such as (Bananas, Rice, Applesauce and Toast) into your diet[BRAT]

c)Try to avoid dairy products rich in fats, sugar, caffeine and carbonated beverages should be avoided too.

d)Try to stick to home-cooked meals for a few weeks after the illness. Large heavy meals should also be avoided. It is better to have several small meals in a day so that no extra stress is put on the digestive system and the healing time is reduced.

e)Try to avoid alcohol and nicotine.

Do take few preventive steps to avoid it-

1)Drink only well-sealed bottled or carbonated water.

2)Try to avoid ice cubes, because they may be made from contaminated water.

3)Use bottled water to brush your teeth.

4)Try to avoid raw food including peeled fruits, raw vegetables and salads that has been touched by human hands.

5)Try to avoid under cooked meat and fish.

Hope that helps
