How Can Unwanted Pregnancy Be Prevented?

I am planning on having sex for the first time. I know some women use their menstrual cycles to help guide them on the best time to have sex so they do not become pregnant. My period is VERY irregular (3- 4 times a year)... It always has been. So, does that mean that I have to be more cautious about becoming pregnant? Or does it mean that I don t have to worry as much? I still plan on using birth control methods but the thought of having sex with an irregular period makes me a little scared and nervous.

Hi,
Welcome to Healthcaremagic.com.

I had gone through your question I can understand your concern about your irregular periods.

Yes you need to be more cautious about your sex life. There a method called safe method, mostly benefits those who have regular periods.

You can also use safe period for having sex without using contraceptive drugs but only for 5-10 days.

There is no chances of pregnancy from first day of your bleeding to 10 day if your periods are generally more than a month long (period here means from one bleeding to another separated by non bleed days that may be months in your case). So if you count first day of bleed, that is your first day of period. You can have sex from this day including bleeding days upto tenth day.Hope you get my point.

Hope my answer will be helpful to you, provide your feedback and visit us again if you feel any further need.
