How Can Thinning Of Hair Be Treated?

I have been on general finasteride for about 4 months now. Prior to taking the medication, I had a very tiny thin/bald spot on the crown. I have been taking 1.25mg MWF. Currently, hairline has receded and thinned, but crown/vertex has thinned dramatically (decent sized bald spot). Should I continue taking finasteride?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
What conservative treatment you are following for thinning of hairs with Finastride is fine. However, along with it, you need to do the following.
1. Apply Minoxidil 5% twice daily regularly.
2. Take Tablet containing Biotin, Vitamin C, Vitamin E and Zinc regularly.
Over a period of 5 to 6 months, you could start appreciating the results and the condition should become better.
Following improvement, you need to continue this treatment for a period of 3 to 5 years.
In case the problem still persists or worsen, it is advisable for you undertake consultation from Dermatologist and plan for hair transplant.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
