How Can Tendonitis Be Treated?

I believe I have tendonitis. I had tennis elbow and left tennis for 3 years to get over it. Went back to tennis and within 4 weeks have tenderness on top of my shoulder . why would this keep occurring? is it simply now that I am older? what can I do to prevent this from reoccurring joint-to-joint and stay active as I desire to do and need to do at my age?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,my name is Dr.Dorina Gurabardhi. I understand your concern.
Tendinitis (also called tendonitis) is an inflammation or irritation of a tendon, a thick cord that attaches bone to muscle.
Some advices that I can give to you are :
-Avoiding activities that aggravate the problem
-Resting the injured area
-Icing the area the day of the injury
-Take anti-inflammatory drugs or use topical anti-inflammatory gels.
If the situation doesn't get better see a doctor.
Hope my answer was helpful, if you have any other questions I'll be glad to help, thanks !
