How Can Symptoms Of Multiple Sclerosis Be Managed?

Hi. I have had MS symptoms for many years after chemical exposure while fighting fire in late 1999. Now in my early 60 s have sought medical attention. The neurologist tells me I can t have MS as I am too old. He did no tests and that was that. My symptoms continue to come and go but more severe as time goes by. Any suggestions?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Yes, the neurologist is right and the multiple sclerosis is not common in the late age. However, the possibility is still there. If the doctor has seen you and he thinks this is not multiple sclerosis, then he must be right, as multiple sclerosis can be understood without tests. So I suggest that you better agree with his advice. You didn't mention anything about the symptoms you are experiencing to decide on other factors other than multiple sclerosis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
