How Can Swollen Lymph Nodes Be Treated?

I have swollen lymph nodes due to tooth infection. The swelling is preventing my mouth opening sufficient for the root canal procedure. The endodontist said there was an IM (Intramuscular) procedure or treatment that could bring relief fairly quickly. Are you familiar with this?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Swollen lymph nodes because of infection will be reduced on their own once your infection is completely treated off. So, take course of antibiotics as per instruction of your dentist.

There is no such procedure to reduce the size of lymph node. Might be he wants to give intramuscular antibiotics. And apply warm water padding over swollen lymph nodes, it might give you a relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Siddartha
