General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.
It is not possible to say if this is broken without xrays of the foot and toe. Your symptoms are suggestive of possible fracture so it would be good to do examination since in case of fracture it should be immobilized properly for 2-3 weeks. In every case you should apply ice, rest and keep leg elevated and take painkillers. I am not sure if there is fracture or not, probably not but it should be ruled out so that you can know how long you should be resting.
I hope I have answered your query. Wish you good health.
