How can swelling and pain in the joints of the finger be treated?

hi, I was playing cricket and during catch my pinky finger got hurt. I was swelling and unable to bend all the way. and pain in in joint. I was taking naproxen and it does reduce the pain. was doing some therapy. But finfer start swelling over nite every nite. day time I feel better and swelling very much reduces. Is there any prescription do I need from my PCP? Please advise. thanks Zaheer

Hello,

The symptoms of the finger seem to be related to the injury.

I suggest using anti inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen 400 mg three times a day.

I also recommend to use ice compresses at the area of the the finger.

If the symptoms continue I suggest to do an x ray to exclude a fracture.
